BUILDING PEOPLE
(The Building Program of the Church)

Introduction: A farmer’s field is to be reaped. All the reapers are clustered in one corner. They reap and re-cultivate and reap and re-cultivate, while the rest of field spoils with no one to harvest it. Not good business.
In
America, gospel is abundant. Workers all around. Touch a button, turn a dial, one can hear the Word.
World needs workers to go harvest. Many have never heard, have no Bible. No Light at all.
Our business as the church is “Building People”. It is to go get people converted and trained into a trainer, who will go and do the same.
This is building the kingdom of God in obedience to the Great Commission given to us by Jesus. Mt.28:18-20.

Text: 1Cor.3.9-15

What We Do (What a Missionary Does)--Ac.9.28
--We go to other parts of the field to the harvest that is abroad.
--We are an extension of the church in
America. Any person can do it who will, short term/long term.
--Our business, our job, is to carry the grace and blessings of God given in
America, to other parts of the world. To influence nations for good. It is through the gospel, the good news, of Jesus Christ that we do this.
--EG. Large corporations send it’s salesmen all over the world. The church is to send it's salesmen all over the world.

How We Do It
--We cannot do it by ourselves. God never intended for us to. It takes teamwork, with team members mutually supporting one another. 1Cor.9.7-14;  Rom.15.26;  1Cor.16.1-6.
--Jesus, Paul had faithful partners. Lk.8.1-3;  Php.1.4-8;  4.10-19.
Faith-promise debt.  People make financial commitments every day, trusting that they will be able to pay them.
EG. A church will go into debt to build a building; a person for a car. A faith-promise debt.
The church can build people world-wide by faith-promise. The promise is made to God to pay a certain monthly amount. “Well, I don’t feel like paying this month.” But you pay anyway. It takes commitment to build a house.
It takes the commitment of a team working together to get God's work done. We make a faith-promise:
1. To be praying for one another
2.To be paying for the work to be done

How You Can Help Fulfill Great Commission
1. Catch the vision to work together as a team to build the Lord’s house—to build people all over the world.
That’s your and my business in obedience to the Great Commission.
2. Catch the vision to be rich toward God (Lk.12.21); to lay up treasures for ourselves (Mt.6.19).
Same reward goes to all (1Sam.30.24;  Mt.20.1-16). We can all be spiritual billionaires if we will.
3. Commit self to the Lord to support each other in prayer, and each of ourselves to be a vessel to go as able.
4. Commit to a monthly amount, trusting Him to provide that amount, and support a mission-minded ministry financially (Mk.12.41-44). This will bring blessing and increase.

Conclusion:
--Building people is the business of the church. We are to get people converted and trained into trainers, who will go and do the same. Some evangelize, some teach/train, some send. All work together for the harvest.
--We don’t want to all just work in one corner of the field. Whosoever will must go to preserve the harvest world-wide.
--We cannot do it ourselves. Takes one body working together as a team.
--Takes energy and monthly commitment: just like working to make money to pay a house note.

Example of a Missionary Budget (husband and wife) (why missionaries itinerate--travel around to raise support):
3 months to
Africa: Roughly $4,000 (minimum)(able to stay with someone living there for teaching)
3 months to
India: Roughly   $6,000 (minimum)
6 months of missed work:   $12,000

Total                                 $22,000  to spend 6 months in the field

One person will commit to this much to just buy a car. We are talking about eternal souls that will be trained, producing ever-compounding, increasing, multiplying fruit. This investment can be shared by many people committing to small monthly investments for the increase of the kingdom of God, many people laying up for themselves treasures in heaven, many people rich toward God. It is an investment for sure increase.

Once monthly commitments are established and these commitments are solidified, then everything is in place for the missionary to continue the work in the following years, continuing to itinerate on regular basis.

Everybody giving a little faithfully, monthly, is how we go about harvesting and building people in other parts of the field. It is your seed and our life, and your and our reward. If we all do our part the work is accomplished of building people world-wide, in obedience to Christ's command and commission.
