FAITH POSSESSES IT NOW

It was known how Jesus loved Lazarus. For someone you love, you will generally do anything without delay. Jesus was told that his beloved Lazarus was sick. The moment Jesus heard the report, he said, "This sickness in not unto death, but for the glory of God that the Son of God might be glorified thereby" (Jn.11.4). Then, a little later in an explanation to his disciples of what was going on (vs. 14),  Jesus  said Lazarus was dead! Whoa! First he says Lazarus is not going to die, then he says he is dead! Let's go a little further.
Jesus is talking to Martha. He tells her that her brother is going to rise again. She replies (paraphrase), "Yes Lord, glory to God, I know that one day out there in the sweet by and by, he will rise again, hallelujah!" Then Jesus tells her that he is the resurrection and the life, and he who believes in him, even if he is dead, yet shall he live, and whoever is alive and believes in him will never die. Then he asks Martha, "Do you believe this?" She replies, "Oh yes Lord, I believe you are God and you can do all things and all things are under your control and everything is gonna be all right one way or another, some day some how."
Well, they get to the scene of the tomb where Lazarus lay rotting. Jesus gives the word to take the stone away from the mouth of the tomb. Martha, typical of her "busy attending to details" nature, lets the Lord know that by this time Lazarus has begun to stink. Jesus says to her, "Didn't I tell you that if you would believe, you would see the glory of God." So they take away the stone, Jesus thanks the Father for the lesson of "faith possessing it now" that is about to be demonstrated, and he calls Lazarus out of the tomb, raising him from the dead.
Here is the point: None of the people surrounding the event was believing for a "now" resurrection. It was the faith of Jesus that raised Lazarus from the dead. The moment Jesus heard the report of Lazarus' sickness, his faith reached out and possessed the promise of deliverance instantly. The manifestation occurred four days later.
Let me put it like this. Question: When did Lazarus receive his deliverance from death? Answer: The instant the faith of Jesus heard the report. That's why Jesus replied to the report given to him of Lazarus being sick, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby." Instantly Jesus' faith leaped forward past sickness, past death, past all obstacles, and saw and declared the promise of deliverance. How could he do this? Because he knew the heart of the Father and was in constant communion with Him.
If you are born again, you have been given "the measure" of faith. As a believer, you have been given the faith of the Son of God. It's the same faith that sees no limitations to seemingly impossible situations.  Let's look at some scriptures concerning "the measure of faith" and the faith of the Son of God that has been given to you. Especially notice the phrase "faith of."
First, a scripture concerning "the measure of faith" you have been given:
Rom 12:3  "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." He is talking in the context of various gifts and offices that God gives. We are not to be puffed up with this faith, but we are to use the gifts and offices that God gives us with sobriety in a level-headed and common sense way. I am glad he said "the" measure of faith instead of "a" measure of faith. There is not but one measure given to every believer, and that is "the measure" of faith, the faith of the Son of God.
Now, let's look at some scriptures concerning the faith of Jesus Christ that has been given to you:
Rom 3:22  "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:".
Gal 2:16  Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Gal 2:20  "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
Gal 3:22  But the Scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Eph 3:12  In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
Phi 3:9  And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Col 2:12  Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Jam 2:1  My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
Rev 14:12  Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
What happens when believers actually believe they have the faith of the Son of God so that they act on that faith? The New Testament gives us clear insight to the answer--multitudes of lives are touched and changed with signs and wonders and with the bold proclamation of the gospel unto eternal life.
So, my encouragement to you is this: Let us believe the Word of God that we have been given the faith of the Son of God that grasps the promise NOW, and let us act on that faith with boldness and confidence. That's the way Jesus did it. That's the way the early church did it, and we can do it today to the glory of God. Let us stay in communion with the Father and move with the Holy Spirit, so with Jesus we can instantly say, "This (sickness) (poverty) (whatever condition that is before us) is not unto (death) (destitution) (or whatever condition threatens to remain), but to the glory of God." And as we move with the Spirit, we will see the glory of God manifested as Jesus did with Lazarus.
    Faith possesses the promise NOW.
