The Good News Of Jesus
Christ

We live in
a time when the media carries a lot of bad news. Times were bad when Jesus
came on the scene too, but notice that the angels announced Jesus coming
to this earth saying, "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings
of great joy, which shall be to all people...Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, good will toward men" (Lk.2.10-14). Sounds like
good news, doesn't it.
Jesus was
born of, matured in, and anointed with the Spirit of God, and we see that
He went about in the power of that anointing "doing good and healing
all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him" (Acts 10.38).
Even a casual look at the life and ministry of Jesus in the New Testament
shows that He was continually setting people free who encountered Him with
faith. There's not one instance in the New Testament where Jesus refused
to heal someone who came to Him believing. There was even one woman who
was not supposed to have healing, who persisted in faith and received healing
for her daughter (Mt.15.21-28). The Bible tells us that Jesus healed multitudes
time and again (Mt.12.15; 19.2; Lk.5.15). Jesus was good news to those
who were oppressed. He set them free.
Jesus came
and laid His very life down in order to provide for every person on the
earth to have forgiveness of sin and an eternal relationship with God the
Father. He took a beating in His body so your body could be healed (Isa.53.5;
Mt.8.16,17). He came announcing and demonstrating the good news that every
person can have a healthy wholesome life here and now. He taught that the
way to have all God's provisions was by simply believing the Word of God
that He taught.
Jesus taught
and demonstrated that God is good and that He has designed to abundantly
bless every person in every way. What the angels announced at His birth
was demonstrated all through His life and ministry to others--"healing
all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him."
Now the
really good thing is that when He left earth and went back to heaven, He
did not take that good news with Him. He trained a group of followers in
this way of life, and when He left He gave them the commission to continue
teaching and demonstrating this good news just the way He had done it.
Not only that, He also told them to train others to go and do the same
so that there is a perpetual continuance of that which He started on earth.
Today,
we have the example of Jesus recorded for us in the Bible, and, we have
that same commission given to us to announce and demonstrate the good news
of the accomplished work of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy
Spirit. The sacrifice of Jesus gives provision for every person on earth
to have forgiveness, healing, and an abundant life of wholeness in every
way. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit is given to make all that Jesus
did for us real in our personal experience. He has come to bless, set free,
heal, empower, lift up, and encourage--to bring the goodness of God into
our lives in every way. Praise the Lord!
Believe
His Word. Receive His Spirit upon your life. He said, "Fear not little
flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Lk.12.32).
Are you willing to believe the Word of Jesus, that He wants to bless you
in every way? Are you willing to believe the good news of Jesus Christ,
that He is for
you and not against you? He is for
you and not against you. Don't listen to anyone who would tell you otherwise.
Jesus has come to bless you. Will you receive Him today? Speak to Him from
your heart:
"Lord
Jesus, I want to believe that you love me and desire to bless me with forgiveness
and eternal life, healing, and wholeness in every way. I receive you, your
Word, and your work on my behalf; I receive your Spirit with power upon
my life, so that I might be set free in every way, healed in every way,
and blessed in every way. Thank you, Lord. I give you my life and my love,
and I will follow you as my Lord from this day on to bring this good news
into the lives of others. Amen."
In
Jesus there is good tidings of great joy to all people. In Jesus there
is peace and the good will of God toward every person. All praise and glory
goes to God in the highest. Thank you, Jesus.
