POWER TO PREVAIL

    The following are five different accounts of Jesus' last instructions to His followers before He went back to heaven. Putting them all together, we can see that we can have power to prevail over all things in order to get His message to the ends of the earth. He also wants us to understand, that we can have His power to assist us personally, in our daily lives. His power to prevail is given to us to assist us in living out and sharing His true character of love, and what He has already done for every person, and will do for every person in the world, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Mat 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

    All power is given unto Jesus in heaven and in earth. The word "power" in the original Greek is "dunamis", which means "miracle-working power". He is telling His followers that in view of the fact that miracle-working power is given unto Him, they should go with all confidence to all nations and teach them in the name of, or in the power and authority of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He told them to teach the people everything that He had taught them. He assured them that they could do it, because He Himself would personally always be right there with them to help them. This is His plan unto the end of the world (to the end of the age).

Mar 16:15  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mar 16:17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

    All power is given to Jesus, and He is always with His followers, to go into all the world and preach the good news to every person. The good news is that God is not mad at you. He doesn't condemn you. He sent His Son to pay for your mistakes that mars your conscience and separates you from the sweet presence of a loving heavenly Father. The good news is that Jesus rose from the dead to give you this relationship with Father God and eternal life.
    Those who carry this good news, have supernatural power available to them to cast out devils, to speak in new languages, and to be resistant to harmful things to themselves, and overcome all things, in order to bring the healing love, care, and power of God to every person. God wants to heal your mind, your soul, and your body. Those who believe this message will have supernatural signs following their life and ministry. These signs are not to be icons in themselves, rather, they are simply God at work through people, to set people free in every way.

Luk 24:46  And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
Luk 24:47  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Luk 24:48  And ye are witnesses of these things.
Luk 24:49  And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

    All power is given to Jesus, and He is always with His followers, to go and announce among all nations that the damning sin and mistakes that separates us from God has been already taken away by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Again, it needs to be said, God is not mad at you!! He knows you are hurting. He knows your mistakes and wrong decisions. Jesus came to die for those who know they have missed the mark. He died so that "sinners" can come to Him and be made one with God! Hallelujah! That's good news.
    We can announce to you that you are washed clean by the shed blood of Jesus. We can bear personal witness to this, because we have received that mesage and have personally experienced that cleansing of our conscience for ourselves. And, we have experienced that He "endues" or "clothes" us with His "dunamis", or, "miracle-working power", to enable us to accomplish His plan for our life. This is all available to every person right now. You can begin knowing His cleansing and empowering in your life right now, by simply embracing the message of Jesus for yourself.

Joh 20:21  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
Joh 20:22  And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Joh 20:23  Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

    All power is given to Jesus, and those who follow Him have a place of peace with God through the power of the Spirit of God (Holy Ghost), and they have the power through the good news of Jesus, to go and give people assurance that their mistakes and sins have been taken away. The good news is that what Jesus has done for you has already made you clean in the eyes of God. Your search is over. You can now have peace with God and with yourself. You now have a whole new life ahead of you. If you believe and embrace this message, you are now free forever because of Jesus. Jesus satisfied God's holy and eternal justice once and for all. God made it so simple, even a child can receive it.

Act 1:4  And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Act 1:5  For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Act 1:6  When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
Act 1:7  And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
Act 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

    All power is given to Jesus, to give that same power to His followers, so they can go and take His message of freedom from sin, and of dominion over sin, sickness, and satan, to the uttermost parts of the earth. The book of Acts is a historical account of the first followers starting to do exactly this. The book has no ending. It is still for us today. Today, we can live in His "all power", so we can live in His loving presence, and, share His loving presence with others everywhere we go. What a way to live--freely giving to others, the love and life of God!

PREVAIL
    Through His power, we can prevail. Definition: prevail  1. to win control: triumph. 2. to be effective: succeed. 3. to be common or frequent: predominate. 4. to be in force or use: persist. to persuade successfully.
    As we receive the message of Jesus, and give ourselves to God because of what Jesus has done for us, He takes up resisdence within us by His Spirit. The Spirit of God is our Helper. Literally, in the original Greek language in which the New Testament is written, the word used is "paraclete" meaning "one called alongside". God is with us to help us. God doesn't just do everything for us. We have choice and responsibility. We can learn to cooperate with Him, or, we can ignore Him and just our own thing. If we learn to cooperate with Him, we have all power at our disposal so that we can "prevail" in all things.
    Notice the language of the early followers:

Act 14:27  And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
Act 15:4  And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
Act 15:12  Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

    They recognized that they were "laborers together with God". God worked with their choice to go, and with their choice to preach and to minister. We have choice with God. We can choose to believe God's message or not. We can choose to receive God's power or not. We can choose to work with and cooperate with God or not. When we choose to cooperate with God, we will find ourselves being used by God to help others, because God has a heart to set every person free in every way.
    Many people, even the church itself, has portrayed God as one who, apart from our choice, allows evil to happen to His children and punishes people to teach them lessons. Many people carry this false concept of God right to their grave. This concept is nothing more than an elemental, heathenistic, concept that is based on craven fear. It teaches that people must still do something that will hopefully appease a big, angry God. Religions all over the world bring untold suffering on people who hold this concept (click on Religions for a graphic message illustrating this).
    If you want to see the true nature and ability of God, look at Jesus.

Col 2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Col 2:9  For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
Col 1:12  Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet (able) to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Col 1:13  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
Col 1:14  In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Col 1:15  Who is the image of the invisible God,
Heb 1:2  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Heb 1:3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
Act 10:38  How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

    Jesus came as a man, empowered by the Spirit of God, and He prevailed over sin, sickness, satan, and death itself. He did this for us. He secured our right standing with God so we could be empowered by that same Spirit to do the same things that He did. It all operates in our life personally by our choice. If we choose Him and His way, then we receive His life and His power, and we walk in His plan for our life. His plan is always that we ourselves be living free, and, that we be able to touch the nations with His love and goodness, setting all people free from sin's tyranny and satan's religious deception and destruction.
    By embracing God's message of Jesus, of what He's already done for you, and by committing your life into His hands, you can have power to prevail over all things both here and hereafter. He said He had all power, and that He was with us always. To the degree that we believe His Word and give ourselves to Him, is the degree that we realize the truth of what He said.
    Jesus told Peter that the people who have Christ revealed in them by the Father, are the people who make up the church that the gates of hell, that the authorities of hell, cannot prevail against it to overcome it.  He said this is the group who have the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever they bind on earth is bound in heaven, and whatever they loose on earth is loosed in heaven. This is the prevailing power of those who believe in and are committed to Jesus Christ (Matt.16.17-19).
    We can choose Him and go free today. We can choose Him, and begin having power to prevail in every way, both for ourselves and for all people of the nations of the world. In Christ, we can work together with God and fulfill God's plan unto the end of the age. He gives us power to prevail, to help us fulfill His plan for the age.
    What greater peace and purpose is there in life?
    In God's plan, we have power to prevail.
