I woke up this morning with this thought
in my mind: "Use your faith." As I began to meditate on that thought, here
is what I realized.
Jesus said, "If you can believe,
all things are possible to him who believes" (Mk.9.23). "All things"
are possible to him who believes! Such an open-ended statement, from the
Word of God, makes me want to learn how to USE my faith as much as
possible!
The Bible says, "But without faith
it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that
He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Heb.11.6).
We
are "rewarded", we "receive benefits", from God Himself, when we are USING
our faith to believe Him. So, we want to USE our faith in order to enjoy
life to the fullest, and to be able to share this wonderful life of God
with others.
There are seven realms of life that
we all live in, in which we can benefit by USING our faith. We are a spirit,
we have a soul, we live in a physical body. We have a family,
we all deal with finances, and we all desire
favor with God
and with man, in our social contacts, and, we all have an eternal
future
beyond death.
First, we will see the principle of
using our faith in the acronym, USE. Then, we will give examples of scriptures
that relate to each of the seven realms of life.
USE
U--Understand what the Word says God has done for you.
S--Speak what the Word says, not what the situation says.
E--Exercise what the Word says. Take action on
the Word.
Understand what the Word says.
To know the Word is to know God's will. To know God's will is to be able
to believe, pray, and act with confidence with no shades of fear and doubt
overshadowing your life. This makes for peace, joy, and abundant life,
in the liberty of enjoying an open relationship with our heavenly Father,
who we know loves us and cares for us.
We must understand what the Word says
about our authority as believers. We must understand that faith and patience
work together with the Word of God to bring the will of God to pass in
our and others lives. This understanding will give us perseverance when
we encounter resistance in any way.
Speak what the Word says, not
what the situation says. One principle of how God operates is that He "calls
those things which do not exist as though they did" (Rom.4.17). It's
sort of like calling your dog. You might not see him with your eyes when
you step outside, but as you call, he manifests in due time. It is like
when God spoke into the darkness and light came. We, too, can speak into
situations what the Word says, and deliverance and solutions will come.
As we put the Word of God in our mouths,
we are dispatching the angels to bring to pass those things that are God's
will: "...his angels...do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice
of His Word" (Ps.103.20). We are told from the Word that the angels
are "ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall
be heirs of salvation" (Heb.1.14).
By speaking the Word into the situation,
we are bringing God's will and deliverance into manifestation.
Exercise, take action, on what
the Word says. A man "sick of the palsy" who was carried to Jesus on a
stretcher was accustomed to others carrying him around, because he was
not able to get up and walk. Jesus said to him, "Arise, take up your
bed and go to your house". Jesus spoke into an impossible situation.
The Bible says, "And he arose and departed to his house"(Mt.9.1-8).
He took action on the Word of God, although he knew that he could not do
what was told him to do--he did it anyway, USING HIS FAITH IN THE WORD
OF GOD. The man exercised his faith, he took action on what the Word said
to do, although it seemed that he could not do it.
Now, let's see some examples of using
our faith to stand on the Word of God as it applies to each realm of our
life.
Spirit. We are a spirit. God
is a Spirit. "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship
him in spirit and in truth" (Jn.4.24). Through the perfect, complete,
and eternal blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ on our behalf, we can be made
one with God in spirit, and enjoy a life filled with His presence every
day.
By simply using our faith to accept the message of the
good news of what Jesus Christ has done for you, and by confessing Him
as the Lord over your life, committing your life to Him to follow Him and
obey Him, you are made one spirit with Him: "But he that is joined unto
the Lord is one spirit" (1Cor.6.17). You can USE your faith to be made
one spirit with God.
Soul. We have a soul,
which is our intellect, emotions, and the realm of choice. We can govern
our souls to line up to the will of God and enjoy the abundant life, or
we can let our souls be influenced by ungodly sources and reap the negatives
that will be produced from those influences. We can purify our souls by
obeying the truth of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. "Seeing
ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto
unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one other with a pure
heart fervently: being born again..."(1Pet.1.22,23). We can use our
faith to purify our souls to live a life of love, which is a life of joy,
peace, and righteousness in the kingdom of God: "If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness" (1Jn.1.9).
Body. The Word says,
"Himself
took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses" (Mt.8.17). Healing is
the fulfillment or result of believing, speaking, and acting on this fact.
We can USE our faith to be healed.
Family. The Word says, "...a
lamb for an house" (Ex.12.3). Paul understood the Covenant promises
of God, so he boldly declared to the Philippian jailor, "Believe on
the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house" (Ac.16.31).
You
can USE your faith on behalf of your family to bless them with the things
of God.
Finances. The Word says, "The
Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods", and, "The blessing of
the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it", and, "Beloved,
I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even
as thy soul prospereth" (3Jn.2). You can USE your faith to believe,
speak, and act upon the truth that God has designed for you to prosper.
Favor. The Word says, "When
a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace
with him" (Pr.16.7). Jesus grew in favor with God and man, and the
early church was filled with the Spirit and praising God, and they had
favor with all the people (Lk.2.52; Ac.2.47). You can USE your faith
to believe, speak, and act upon the truth that God will promote you in
His kingdom and before the people, in order to demonstrate His goodness
to all. God will confirm His Word with signs following. It will come to
pass.
Future. The Word says, "For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (Jn.3.16).
You
can USE your faith to believe this message, confess Jesus as your Lord
and Savior, and act upon what God's Word says, and you can be assured that
you will not perish, but live with Jesus for all eternity.
In every realm of life, USE your
faith to live in the blessings of the kingdom of God. Understand
what the Word says. Speak what the Word says. Exercise,
or, take action, on what the Word says. Develop this as a life-style, and
you are living by faith. There are no limits to those who live by faith.
By faith you are hooked up to God's life, God's ability, God's resources,
God's purposes, and God's power, so you get God's results. This is the
way Jesus did it. This is the way the early church did it. This is the
way we can do it. We can accomplish God's work in the earth. Every person
in the world needs to hear the gospel. This is our work to accomplish.
Let us give ourselves to learning
to USE our faith in Jesus Christ, the Living Word of God, and get the work
of God done in the earth today.
