"But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." 1Cor.15.10
Grace is the unlimited life, power, gifts, abilities, and nature of God imparted to us by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the complete righteousness and the finished sacrificial work of Jesus Christ on our behalf, because of His love for us and His mercy toward us, to enable us to do all the will of God on earth here and now, with a victorious spirit of excellence, praise, worship, and thanksgiving unto God, thereby overcoming all things in order to go and make disciples of all nations.
When we encounter God, we receive an
impartation. When we encounter His Word, the Bible, we encounter Him. We
can receive this impartation in vain. That is like having a million dollars
put into our bank account and never writing checks on it. Many people are
in this position spiritually. All the benefits of God are at their fingertips,
but they equate the things of God as "religious stuff". There is a knowledge
about God, but there is no real interaction with God.
If we interact with the impartation
of God that we have, if we start responding to the Word of God to act upon
what His Word says, then we are "writing checks" upon our "bank account".
The benefits of God will begin to flow. It becomes a relationship with
God. Flowing out of that beneficial relationship will be the "labour" of
ministering before God and to others.
"By the grace of God". This
can be read "through" the grace of God. Through what Jesus has done, we
receive good things from God. Jesus has been given as the perfect, eternal
sacrifice to take all our sins and shame away that stands between us and
God. He has been given as our sickness bearer, to take all our sickness
and disease away. This is God's work and God's ability and God's righteousness
put to our "account". Jesus is our "money in the bank" freely given to
us. This is a first dimension of grace. There are many dimensions of grace.
"Grace...bestowed upon me".
This is a second dimension of grace. It is the impartation of God's life,
power, ability, and nature into and upon our lives to enable us to do all
of God's will in our daily lives. The Holy Spirit regenerates us, making
us spiritually alive to God. The Holy Spirit also clothes us with His supernatural
power enabling us to be effective ministers of Jesus Christ before God
and to others. This is called the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There are
supernatural signs that accompany this, one of which is speaking in another
language. This goes beyond the natural, enabling you to communicate with
God, who is Spirit, directly from your spirit man without the limitations
of your intellectual knowledge. This is important, because through this
there are no limitations on God in our prayer and ministry life. In this
dimension of grace there is also a love, joy and peace that is beyond what
natural man can produce, and, many other things.
"Grace...with me". This is
a third dimension of grace. Not only is the Holy Spirit in and upon us,
but He is also with us, through Jesus Christ. He is called the Helper,
the Comforter. In the Greek language this is "paraclete", which means "one
called
alongside". Jesus is called "Immanuel". This means "God with us". We have
the comforting presence of God and the favor of God with us to go before
us and arrange things around us for our good and God's glory in our doing
His will on earth. We also have the angels ministering for us to protect
us and enable us to carry out God's will on earth.
When we begin to realize what has
been given to us in the person of Jesus Christ, all the benefits that are
ours to use, it makes a real change in our lives. Our focus becomes God.
We see Him, who said "I AM", as our Source. Our life revolves around God
the Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the things of God. He is
our Peace, our Healer, our Provider, and our Source of all good things.
As we commit our lives to Him, and
see His work to bring about these good benefits in our lives, we get excited.
"It works!", we exclaim, as a crude way of saying, "God loves me, and desires
to do only good things for me, just because He loves me."
From the overflow of this kind of
realization and relationship, we tell others. "Others need to know about
this wonderful God who showers us with benefits every day!" Yes, we are
excited. God is good. The grace that He gives through His Son, Jesus Christ,
is abundant and free. He desires for us to hear His Word and respond with
"Yes!", so He can be free to give us all the good things available to us.
He does not force Himself upon us.
"If God be for us, who can be against
us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how
shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" Romans 8.31.32.
What things are in this grace of God's
Son? Forgiveness. Peace of mind. Eternal life. Victory over death and hell.
Healing. Health. Supernatural power to enable you to live victoriously
here and now. Family salvation. Financial prosperity to enable you to give
to others who have need. In this grace is all blessings for you, so you
can be a blessing to others. That's the life of Jesus Christ. That's the
labour that comes by grace. That is prevailing grace, opposite to grace
received in vain.
We want others to know that
there is "money in the bank", in their name, through what Jesus Christ
has done, and that they can start "writing checks" on it.
You start "writing checks" by calling
up the Lord and telling Him that you are offering Him your life, to be
partnered up with Him, to do whatever He wants to do in your life. Read
His Word, and you find out what He wants to do in your life.
His deal is this: You give Him your
life, and He will give you His. That's a good deal, wouldn't you say? There's
no religious duties or requirements attached. It's a personal relationship
with Him. And guess what, you can do this every day you live. What a way
to live--living with God every day! Living in a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit who is there with you
all the time. Now that's life at it's best.
Now, if that doesn't set your wood
on fire, it's just too wet to burn. But let me tell you, when you get sawed
on, laid out, cut up, split and dried out, this good news will set you
on fire!
Grace by, upon, and with: This grace
is available to each one of us each day through our Lord Jesus Christ.
He gave Himself so we could enjoy and share these benefits. Start cashing
