FINDING GOD'S DIRECTION FOR YOUR LIFE

Introduction:
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand." Ps. 37. 23, 24. God promises to lead us in this life, and even though we do our own thing for a while and make a mess of things, He will still be there to help us if we will turn to Him.

If we are tired of wandering, and we are sincerely desiring to know our reason for living, what better directions could we get other than God's plan for our life? God's basic plan for you is simple, and it is found in the Bible.

STEP 1--THE GOOD MAN
The good man is Jesus Christ. The first step is to give Him your life--your sin, your messes, your past, your future, your hurts, your fears--just everything about you, just give it to Him. Get hooked up with Jesus. You can do business with God by coming to Him just the way you are and where you are, and by telling Him that you are giving Him your life. Ask Him to be the director of your life from this day forward. By giving Jesus control of your life, you give Him the full rights to lead you into His perfect and wonderful plan for you. When you give your life over to Jesus, He takes all your sins away, and breaks the power of sin that has held you captive. Also, in the mind of God, the goodness of Jesus Christ is put to your account. Jesus is your connection to the Heavenly Father so you can be led by God's Spirit.

STEP 2--RECEIVE THE INSTRUCTOR TO GUIDE YOU
When you give your life over to Jesus and ask Him to be the director, you can now receive the Holy Spirit into your everyday life to instruct and guide you. This is God Himself living in and with you, teaching and empowering you, so you can live out God's marvelous plan. After giving your life over to Jesus, God's real presence is given to you simply by your asking: "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" Lk. 11. 13.

Just as you delight in giving your children good things, so much more does the heavenly Father delight in giving His children all the good things of His kingdom: "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." Lk. 12. 32. This is the promise made to those who seek first His kingdom by giving their lives to Him.

STEP 3--LEARN THE MENU
Up to now, you have been ordering what you have wanted from the menu of life, and perhaps, overall, the meal is not too satisfying. There's still a gnawing hunger deep inside. Well, the Lord wants to order for you. He orders things that bring inward peace and satisfaction. He orders clear direction and revelation of why you are alive in this world right now. He orders love, joy, peace, liberty, and forgiveness. He orders harmony, healing, and health. All this is in the menu--the Bible is the menu. So, study the Bible to learn of all the good things that God has prepared for you. The Teacher, the Holy Spirit, will guide you and teach you from the Bible the good things God has for you.

STEP 4--ENJOY THE MEAL
Just like Grandma enjoys fixing a fine meal for her kids and seeing them fill up on all the good things she fixed, so the Heavenly Father enjoys seeing us enjoy all the good things He has fixed for us. God promises "heaven upon the earth" (Deut. 11. 21). The angels announced at Jesus' birth, "on earth peace, good will toward men" (Lk. 2. 14). Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6. 10). Your heavenly Father wants you to live "the good life" in His presence and with His provisions on earth. If the person next to you does not want that, that's his or her choice, but you do not have to live your life hungry and miserable inside. God has made full provision through Jesus Christ for you to have "life", and have it "more abundantly" (Jn. 10. 10). God wants you to enjoy the meal.

STEP 5--DO THE WORK
A good meal empowers you to do a lot of work. There is a job that God has for you in His kingdom. Whatever job He gives you to accomplish, it is a joy. Oh, it might be real work, and hardship at times, and there might be persecution, but when your spirit man is in the presence of Jesus, and you know you are doing what God Himself wants you to do, the glory of His presence (the inward love, joy, and peace) supercedes the "light affliction" (2 Cor. 4. 17) that we might be experiencing. The afflictions are "light" compared to enjoying His presence both now and for all eternity.

Conclusion:
Starting right now, your whole life can be different. Instead of fighting and searching and being tossed around, you can have peace. You can rest. You can love God and all people. When you invite and allow Jesus to be the Lord, the ruler of your life, He takes the torment of sin away, and He puts His Spirit in it's place. That's His presence. Now, regardless of the outward circumstances, the inward person is made new, so all things become new, since you are now seeing things from a whole new perspective.

If you ask the Lord to take over your life, right now, He will start bringing His directions and His perfect will to pass in your life. All the good things He has planned for you, now starts kicking into full motion. You have given Him the full right to bless you in any and every way He so desires. He has been blessing you in many ways, but now He can start blessing you in more abundant ways, beyond all your expectations. This causes great joy to the heart of the Father for you to come into full relationship with Him and receive the good things He desires to give you.

When you live under God's direction, you live in the true joy of life of being an intimate friend with Jesus Christ, who is Lord over all. When you live under God's direction, you live the abundant life here on earth, right now. This is the direction that God has for your life today. Follow Him by calling upon His name, right now.
