MEET JESUS
Introduction:
Three blind men felt of an elephant.
One felt of his trunk and said an elephant is like a snake. Another felt
of his tail and disagreed with the first by saying an elephant is like
a rope. The third man felt of his side and disagreed with the first two
men, saying an elephant is like a wall.
Many people have met Jesus and have
only realized certain aspects of His personality and works. We need to
realize there are more dimensions to Jesus than perhaps we have experienced.
We need to meet the whole man, not just parts of Him.
Jesus is given to us as shall we say,
"a package deal". Theology divides Him up into things, theories, thoughts,
and opinions. The Spirit of truth presents Him as the risen Son of God
alive today to meet every dimension of man's needs.
Everything we need is now available
in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is synonomous with His Word.
You can trust His Word. He is a man you trust. What He says, He will do.
So as you hear His Word, you are hearing Jesus. What His Word says is yours,
you can receive by faith by giving praise to God and acting on what Jesus,
the Word, says to you.
Now, meet Jesus, and all that He has
provided for you in Himself.
(I have given references from
O.T., Jesus teaching, early church, and from the letters of the apostles,
for a witness to each truth.)
1. FORGIVENESS AND FULL DELIVERANCE
You can trust His Word. He said He
would forgive you, taking all your sins away forever. Jer. 31. 34;
Jn. 8. 36; Ac. 10. 43; Eph. 1. 7; 2
Cor. 5. 17.
2. FULNESS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD
You can trust His Word. He said He
would fill those who hunger and thirst after Him. Joel 2.28-32;
Matt. 5.6; Ac. 2. 32, 33; Col. 2. 9, 10.
3. FAMILY SALVATION
You can trust His Word. He said He
would save your family if you are believing on Him. Ex. 12. 2;
Matt. 15. 24-28; Ac. 2. 38, 39; 1 Cor. 7. 14
4. PHYSICAL HEALING AND HEALTH
You can trust His Word. He said He
would heal your body and keep you in health if you discern His body broken
for you (understand why His body was broken for you, and speak and act
accordingly). Isa. 53. 4, 5; Matt. 8. 16, 17;
Ac. 5. 16; 1 Pet. 2. 24.
5. FINANCIAL BLESSING
You can trust
His Word. He said He would supply you with financial abundance so you can
have to give to others. Mal. 3. 8-12; Lk. 6. 38;
Ac. 14. 17; 28.10;
2 Cor. 8. 9; Eph. 4. 28.
6. FAVOR SOCIALLY AND CIRCUMSTANTIALLY
You can trust
His Word. He said He would give you favor with even your enemies, and arrange
for things to just generally work your way. Zeph. 3. 19, 20;
Lk. 2. 52; Ac. 2. 47; 1 Pet. 2. 11-17.
7. FUTURE WITH JESUS IN HEAVEN FOREVER
You can trust
His Word. He said He would provide a place for you to be with Him in heaven
forever. Isa. 45. 17, 22; Jn. 3. 16; 14. 1-3;
1 Thes. 4. 16, 17 Ac. 20. 32. (I reversed the order
here to put Acts last. This passage in Acts is a fitting summary of what
I discovered in the book of Acts. They put most emphasis on who Jesus is
for us here and now.)
Conclusion:
Jesus is called
"Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince
of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no
end...The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this" (Isa. 9. 6,
7). He is a wonderful person to meet. He is God. Everything we need is
supplied in Him. All things are supplied as we believe His Word. Meeting
and knowing the Word is the same as meeting and knowing Jesus. Receiving
and acting on the Word is the same receiving and acting on what Jesus tells
you to do. This is trust. This is believing God. This is faith in the person
of Jesus--to receive and act on what He tells you to do, and to act on
who He says you are.
Everything He
has provided can be experienced by receiving and acting on His Word.
So don't be
like the blind men concerning the elephant. Don't just take a part of Him
and disregard the rest. Receive the whole person. Receive all that He is
and has for you today. Whatever your desire and need, Jesus is your present
source to abundantly supply all.
Meet Jesus Christ,
the risen Son of God, alive for you today.
