We all have our whims and woes,
opinions and ideas galore.
We goof up, goof off, make stupid
mistakes, and more...
We assure ourselves in our staunch
reason,
"Well I know for sure--I am right!"
And it goes so well until...
more light.
Life is a ride, a thrill, a delight.
Sometimes it's a scream,
sometimes it's a fight.
Sometimes we go up,
sometimes we go down,
sometimes we just go
round and round.
And then there's the philosophical marketplace:
One screams, "Here! This is the way."
Another plausibly persuades,
"This is what's happening today."
And yet another,
"It's all in yourself. You just work it out within yourself."
Everybody has their personally tailored opinion.
(We tailor it to what we personally want to hear.)
But you know,
when all the smoke has cleared,
and all the dust has settled,
there is one thing that still stands
unchanged, unscathed,
something unmettled:
Everybody has an opinion, an experience,
a point of view,
but none of this changes
The Rock.
In all the swirl of activity,
there is one thing that is sure--solid--
Jesus is The Rock
whether we believe it or not,
He is always there
for us.
And,
when we really commit our lives to
Him,
to follow Him--just Him--
not our personal opinion,
not a religious system,
but to just simply follow Him:
This produces a peace that passes understanding,
and a joy that goes beyond expression.
Then, the more we learn of just Him,
and visit with Him through each day,
and the more we get to know Him intimately,
and understand all He has provided for us in this way,
then we begin living in a dimension of His love and life,
that we never knew existed for us
here and now, and alway.
Oh, we still limit Him,
we still make stupid mistakes,
and on the list could go,
but
He is loving and kind, and
He always seeks to instruct us, and
He always leads us into the good and right ways
for our own good, and,
so His goodness we can know.
The key is this:
As we listen to obey Him, to believe His Word,
then our lives are established
on The Rock.
We can then have a peace and joy in the midst of life's
trials
today,
and because He never changes,
our assurance and joy is both for now, and
for alway.
Jesus never changes.
He is sure, and always there.
He is The Rock,
on whom we can rest our eternal soul.
He is The Rock,
who presently will make us whole.
Believe in The Rock.
Our opinion, experience, and outlook may change,
But Jesus is always the same.
The Rock.
