The church was not given a name. They were simply recognized as people of love and boldness, who were witnesses, who had been with Jesus. Acts 1:8; Acts 4:13
They were simply followers of Jesus who lived and operated in the name of Jesus. They were operating as a joint-heir with Jesus, sons and daughters of God. Acts 4:18
In that name was/is embodied the person of the Father, the person of the Son, and the person of the Holy Spirit, in which is all power. In the name of Jesus, they were authorized to go and make disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:18-20
In that name they were to be instruments through which the Lord would do miracles in and through them. They would speak and operate in supernatural love and power.
Mark 16: 15-20
In that name they had power to set people free from sin by preaching the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Luke 28:46-49; John 20: 21-23
Conclusion:
Regardless of where you are or what label you might be associated with, you are to carry the name of Jesus. You are in the family of God. You are in the name of Jesus. You are to live and operate in the life and character of Jesus, and in the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit and accomplish what the Father has planned for you to accomplish.
The church starts in the home in the name of Jesus, and is to reach to the ends of the earth through the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.
