I was sitting in the Lux Café in Glenwood, Arkansas. Early 70’s. I was a young preacher boy out preaching somewhere around Glenwood. I was sitting at a table at the end of the room. There were two speakers mounted up in each corner of that end of the room. Just as the waitress approached, and just as I looked up to acknowledge her approach, “Hello, Darlin’” came clearly over the speakers just as our eyes met. I was shocked and so was she. The perfect timing made it seem like I had spoken to her. We laughed at the unusual event, and I got my tea or whatever I came in for. (When I told this to my wife Barb, she said I probably missed my life’s mate. Lol.) When I recently remembered this, I pulled up Conway Twitty’s country western hit, “Hello Darlin’” on You Tube and listened to it, laughing again as I enjoyed the event all over again. This reminded me of another occasion of perfect timing. I was in Portland, Oregon. It was October 31—Halloween. I walked into a bank to open an account. I had never been in the bank before in my life. Just as I pushed the front door open to step inside the lobby, I heard, “Hi, Jackie!” There were several people in the lobby, and there was a lady with her back to me standing about six feet from me. I noticed antennae coming up from her head. My thought was, “Wow! What do we have here? This lady knows my name!” I was a little stunned, and confused, as to what I had just stepped into. This was really feeling strange. (Remember, this was Halloween Day). I stopped for a moment to figure out what was going on. In that moment, she turned around to greet me. As it turned out, she had greeted another customer whose name was Jackie, at the very moment I stepped in the bank. When we discovered what had happened, the whole lobby of people enjoyed the event as we related to each other what had happened. The event was enhanced even further as my thick southern accent was commented on by the northwestern “Yankees.” These humorous and bizarre events of timing teach us that timing can make all the difference in the world. In our faith toward God, we can believe Him and rest in Him that His timing of all things is best. Our part is to hear the Word of promise of the finished work of Jesus Christ, and believe it. When we believe, we confess Him as Lord, continuing to walk in faith with praise and thanksgiving unto Him. We let Him be God in our life. By Him, our sins are taken away, we know peace and joy, our bodies are healed, we walk in power, our families are blessed, and we experience prosperity in every way. God’s time of salvation is now, by faith in Jesus Christ.
