I walked down the hall away from the prison chapel as the band was warming up for a meeting, to see just how far the sound was carrying in the building. Barb plays the keyboard in the prison band, so we are there each week for practice, plus the days we hold meetings, usually two or three days each month. One of the inmates was standing there where I stopped at the end of the common area, and I said, “Hey, how ya’ doin’?” He replied, and I told him what I was doing, and I invited him to come to the chapel meeting that night. He said he didn’t do religious stuff. I said, “Oh really. Neither do I. I just talk about Jesus. I just follow Jesus.” He consented to come to the meeting. I made a point that night to really focus my remarks all about Jesus, but I didn’t really have to do that, because Jesus is basically all I speak about anyway. At a later date, I had a one-on-one visit with him. I learned the man is extremely knowledgeable in the Bible and related topics. In that meeting, I met his questions and intense skeptical probing with Jesus—what fault do you find in Jesus? And, it was established that I just follow Jesus. The only way to know the Father is to know Jesus. Long story short: The man testified last Wednesday night in another minister’s meeting and again last Saturday night in our meeting. He told how he was a Luciferian, a Satan worshipper, and he was going around to the believers in prison causing them to doubt their faith. He named some of the ones right there in Saturday’s meeting who he had done that to. But he told how with the encounter he had with “there is no fault in Jesus,” and “I just seek to follow Jesus,” and with the men who he was attacking just showing love and kindness to him, he just kept coming to the meetings, and band practices. He told God privately, “If You are real, show me a sign. Let me do something for You.” Later, the band leader wanted a back-up bass guitar player. He asked that man! Boom! That opened his eyes. He now plays bass in the prison band. Last Saturday night he publicly renounced Satan and confessed his commitment to Jesus Christ and asked to be baptized, which is scheduled for September 26. We get the kind of results according to the kind of gospel we preach. If we preach the gospel of the living, resurrected person of the Lord Jesus Christ, who died and took away all our sins, and who fills us with the Holy Ghost and unlimited power, that’s the results we will get—unlimited results. We get followers of Jesus. God worked through multiple vessels to bring the man to Jesus. He leaves the ninety-nine to find the one. All glory to the Lord Jesus Christ.
