A stated wish or desire of God for us is “above all things” that we “prosper and be in health” in this daily journey that we call life (3 John vs. 2). The word prosper literally means “to help on the road” (Strong’s Concordance). Whether we believe that and come into agreement with that is up to us. We make a choice to believe God’s word or not. Power is released into our life when we choose to believe and come into agreement with God’s word and God’s way.
There is power in agreement; things are accomplished when there is agreement.
There is power in what is spoken. “Life and death are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21). With our tongue we can “write out” and dictate our destiny – “my tongue is the pen of a ready writer” (Psalms 45:1). That can be a positive destiny or a negative one.
Jesus said that by our words we are justified and by our words we are condemned (Matthew 12:37). Another way to say it is that by our words we walk in freedom and liberty, and by our words we bring ourselves into bondage and hold ourselves in a self made prison.
Jesus also said if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of the Father in heaven (Matthew 18:19). If two believers have that much power in agreement, no doubt there is power when we come into agreement with God’s wishes and God’s desires for us. It just makes good sense to agree with and voice God’s desires for us in this earth as expressed by his written word. It does not make good sense to be expressing things that are the opposite of his desires for us by speaking negative things into our lives. We build our own prison with our tongue.
Jesus, also known as the Word (Revelation 19:13; John 1), expressly came to set us free in every way. That is his goal for us. His power is released when we believe and come into agreement with him and speak his word with our tongue. Believe, agree with, obey, and speak his word into your life, and set yourself free.
