According to my research (I asked AI), green is the universal color for traffic lights meaning to go. It hasn’t always been that way. Trains once had light signals with a white light meaning to go, and green was caution. With certain accidents, in which the conductor mistook the white light for stars, they changed the green light to mean go, and the yellow light to mean caution. Of course, this has only been with the advent of modern transportation, since in the horse and buggy days, about all they did see at night was stars, and the go signal was giddyap. But for us modern travelers, green means go. Green is my favorite color. I have always said God’s favorite color must be green because the earth is green. My assured perception was rudely shattered when Google showed me pictures of earth from space. Yes, there is green, but most of the earth shows blue with some areas brown and green. Well, brushing myself off from that fall in the dust, I must come back and contend that “Yes, one of God’s favorite colors must be green, because the Bible says there is an emerald rainbow around His throne” (Revelation 4:3-4). He wouldn’t have a green rainbow around His throne if He did not like green! And God who likes green, is a “go” God. He Jesus had to “go” to earth to redeem mankind. Then Jesus told His followers to “Go…into all the world…preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Those who follow Jesus are to be “go” people. So now, every time we come to a traffic light, and it turns green, we are to remember, God is a “go” God. “Go…preach the gospel.” Green is the “go” color. That’s our sign. And there are other signs that speak to us. When we come up to some glass double doors in a store and the sign on the door says, “Push,” we are reminded to push through the obstacles we face, by faith in Jesus. That means “Push” through the obstacles by believing the Word of God and speaking it out of our mouth. Faith makes action. We don’t just take life lying down. We take the Word in our mouth and we boldly declare, out-loud, the promises of God’s Word, and that God cannot lie, therefore we have what we say in Jesus’ name (Mark 11:23). This is not your typical ho-hum, business-as-usual Christianity. Just look around and see where that has gotten us! No, this is living in the green. It’s going to take some people living in the green to get the job done that needs to be done today. Living in the green is living in the presence of God, surrounded by an emerald rainbow. This is being seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. This is having the perspective of being one with God through Christ Jesus, viewing life from a heavenly perspective (Philippians 3:20). You’ve got the green light—Go!
