Green Perspective

When I was a kid, my big brother, Richard, twelve years older than me, allowed me to hang out with him. He was in college. I was about seven. He was my “big brother.” I went places with him and did things with him. He took me to where he worked. In my eyes, he was everything I wanted to be. His expressions became my expressions, and what he liked, I liked. That is how my favorite color became green. Richard’s favorite color was green, so my favorite color became green. To this day my favorite color is green. I can go to a rack of shirts in a store, and I am drawn to the green shirts. I like metallic, dark green vehicles (although my vehicle is not dark green). While on vacation at Orange Beach, Alabama, I went into a store and bought me some green sunglasses. The frame is sort of an emerald green. I like my green sunglasses. One day a young person said to me, “I like your green sunglasses. You rock.” Well, that made me feel young and “groovy” (I am seventy-four), so I enjoy wearing my green sunglasses. One day I was reading Revelation 4:3. It says an emerald rainbow is round about the throne of God in heaven. Emerald is green. Philippians 4:7 says our citizenship is in heaven “from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 2:4-6 tells us that believers in Jesus Christ have been made alive together with Christ, the Spirit-anointed Messiah-Deliverer. It goes on to say that we have been raised up together with Him and have been made to sit together with him in heavenly places. In Christ, we are seated together with Him on His throne of authority. It is His throne and His authority, but we are hidden in Him by faith. That is our position in Him. In that position, we can go through life with one of two perspectives. One says, “I’m just a low-down sinner saved by grace.”  The other perspective says, “I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. All my sins are washed away. His righteousness is put to my account. The same life and anointing that He has is mine because He made me alive in Him. In Christ, I am with Him on His throne of authority to ‘reign in life by one, Jesus Christ’” (Romans 5:17). We can live with a perspective of a poor beggar struggling through life, or, we can put our emerald green “Son” glasses on, looking through the lenses of our position in Him, and reign with Him in life as a citizen of heaven, resting in Christ on His throne. We can focus on the bad things in life, or we can see God and Christ working in all things. It depends on what glasses we are looking through. Life is a lot better having the “green perspective” of seeing things from heaven’s point of view.
