A man had been weed-eating and was sitting at an outdoor table re-stringing his weed-eater. I was a care-giver at my client’s place. I knew the man, and he knew me, and that I follow Jesus. The man was a “rough” man, with every other word a curse word. I asked him, “Can you find any fault with Jesus?” Immediately he went off on churches and preachers. I let him rant a minute, then I brought him back to the question. He continued to rant and curse preachers and churches. The third time I brought him back to the question. This time he did squeeze in a little acknowledgment saying, “Well, there’s nothing wrong with Jesus, but…” and off he went again vilifying the churches. In every difference of experience, opinion and interpretation, Jesus is right. So, let’s look at Jesus. He reveals Himself to a woman at Samaria by word of knowledge. She is transformed in her thinking, having encountered the prophesied Christ, and she goes into the city and tells all the men about Jesus the Christ, the Spirit-anointed Messiah. Jesus never stopped her from going and talking to the men. Jesus is right.
Women were under the rulership of men from the fall, to Jesus. He started changing that. Then, the Spirit was poured out and sons and daughters were set to “prophesy.” Greek meaning of the word is “to speak under inspiration of the Spirit; to hold the office of prophet” (Strong’s Concordance G4395). The Apostle Paul gets the revelation that in the kingdom of God there is neither male nor female. Now, men no longer rule over women; they both walk side-by-side as in the beginning. Now, they are to mutually support one another in what God calls each to accomplish in His kingdom. Yes, they each have a role; yes, disorder in both men and women is to be corrected. But commitment to and sharing Jesus is right in any setting, and in any level of society, from the government on down. By the way, I appreciate Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders having the Faith-Based Initiatives office in her administration, and the 10:33 Initiative Program. This woman is not ashamed of Jesus in any setting. Jesus has set women free to run governments and preach Jesus in churches and in every level of society. Who is man to tell them to shut up? We must see the big picture in scripture and in society. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. As He told His disciples at Samaria, the harvest is white, ready to reap. God wants to use men, women, boys, girls, and even donkeys and rocks if He has to.
And by the way, in the scriptures, there is no such thing as a “pulpit ministry.” It is people, men and women, in homes, going to synagogues, in the market places, and going from city-to-city sharing Jesus. We need to get our viewpoint and thinking out of the box, and share Jesus. He is right.
