Know This

A man lame from birth, laying at the temple gate begging for a handout from those who entered, asked Peter and John for some money as they were about to go in. They stopped and looked intently at him, and Peter said, “Look at us.” So the man looked at them expecting to receive some money. Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” Then Peter grabbed his hand and lifted him up. lame man healedImmediately the man’s legs gained strength and he went walking and leaping and praising God all through the temple (Acts 3: 1-10). The man was expecting a handout and instead he got a healing. What is it that Peter knew he had that he could give to the man?

Peter knew he had the keys to release the kingdom of God into the lives of all those around him, and the “gates of hell” could not “prevail” or stand up against and stop him from doing it (Matthew 16: 18, 19). He knew he had righteousness with an open heaven to God through the shed blood of Jesus (Romans 5: 17; Hebrews 10: 19-23; 1 Peter 1:2). He knew he had a standing commission from Jesus Christ to go heal the sick. He knew he had “all authority” through the name of Jesus to release blessings into people’s lives (Matthew 28: 18-20; Mark 16: 15-18). He knew he had the faith of the Son of God operating in him (2 Peter 1:1; Galations 2:20 KJV). He knew he always had Jesus praying by the Father’s right hand that all people be blessed (Hebrews 7:25; 9:24; Romans 8:34). He knew he had the same Holy Spirit and power on his life that Jesus had on his (Acts 2:16-21, 32, 33, 38). He knew he had the move of God with him – he did not have to wait for a future “move of God”. Peter believed, so he was bold to move with God, offering no resistance. He had denied Jesus three times, but he repented; he turned from that fearful state of mind, and yielded his life to his Lord so that he was filled with the Holy Spirit. Peter knew the power of God always flowed through him as he maintained his life in the Spirit of God . He had watched Jesus operate this way for three years. Peter knew he had God’s power to heal (Matthew 10: 1, 7, 8), so he gave healing to the man, and later, by continuing in this faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, just his shadow gave healing to multitudes (Acts 5: 15, 16). Know this: Through faith in Jesus you carry the move of God with you! Expect results as you move with Him! 4-11-15
