Since the passing of Willy, Waylon likes to hang out close to our house. He likes to hang out on the back porch where we always come out the door. On cool mornings I can peek out the door glass and see him sitting or lying there shivering. He’s going on 14 years old now, and his allegiance remains faithful to be close to his master. I’m going to do the best I can to take care of him. He has all but completely abandoned his pen and house that is a short distance from our house. He just wants to hang out close to us. So, I took the sleeping box from the inside of his house and put it on the open back porch with a small heater installed. I made a day bed right beside the box, plush lined for warmth and comfort. He likes his bed. It seems he has yet to really learn the warmth of the sleeping box. This morning it was down to about fifty degrees, and he was still lying on his day bed—shivering. When I discovered it, I stepped out there with him and gave him the “kennel” command. With repeated commands and opening the swinging door to the box, he went in and discovered a nice warm “den” that is ideal for the upcoming cold weather. He was lying right there in his open day bed, shivering in the cold, when all the time, right beside him was a nice, warm house. Hopefully, I can help him put two and two together and he will use the nice, warm heated room for his winter comfort. It has a foam pad plus a foam-like pad on top of that. So many people are living a cool or cold Christian life, shivering through life’s trials, when all the time, God has provided the fire of the Holy Ghost. Jesus has already paid the price for our sins to all be taken away and His holy life imparted to us. With that, He wants us to be filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit. It is already in place for us, but we have to “kennel” to receive the benefits. We must know it is there for us and “go for it.” We are to ask and receive the Holy Spirit and power just like the believers received Him in the Bible in the book of Acts. They had never been instructed that “the new birth is the same as the baptism of the Spirit.” They had never been instructed that the gifts and power of the Spirit had “passed away.” Jesus had instructed them that as born-again believers, they were now candidates to receive “the promise of the Father.” He said when you receive His baptism of the Spirit and fire, you will be a witness of Him to the ends of the earth. When we get the fire of God, we won’t shiver for fear or for being cold.
