When the children of Israel came out of Egypt, by the blood of a slain lamb sprinkled on the door posts, the death angel passed over them. The people applied the blood, worshipping God, and lived, while death was all around them (Exodus 12). God said He would “take away from thee all sickness” as they submitted their lives to Him in coming out of Egypt (Deuteronomy 7:12-15). David saw that God is good and righteous, and He benefits us by forgiving all our iniquities and healing all our diseases and satisfying our mouth with good things so our youth is renewed like the eagles (Psalms 103:1-6). Isaiah prophetically saw Jesus. He saw that He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities. He saw that He took our mental torments upon Himself, and “with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Malachi prophetically saw the future age of the Spirit. He saw “the Sun of righteousness” who would “arise with healing in his wings” (Malachi 4:1-3). Then we come to Jesus Himself. He “healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias [Isaiah] the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses” (Matthew 8:16-17). We look at the early church. Healing flowed like a river, with one instance recorded of “a multitude” of sick people coming to the church from the surrounding region “and they were healed every one” (Acts 5:16). Peter preached to the Gentiles (that’s us) how God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and power who went about “doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him” (Acts 10:38). The church is instructed that if any are sick among us, we are to call for the elders of the church for them to pray the prayer of faith and anoint with oil, “and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed any sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults to one another, that ye may be healed” (James 5:14-16). Here we see, as we submit our life to the Lord in honesty, humility and in obedience to His Word, we receive healing. Finally, we see God’s wish expressed for all: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 1:2).
Seven pillars of truth in God’s Word for us to stand on with faith in God and be healed and forgiven—The Exodus, David, Isaiah, Malachi, Jesus, the Early Church and God’s Heart expressed. It is accomplished by the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross and Him being raised by the Spirit to live evermore to make it real in our lives by that same Spirit. Our part is to hear, believe, speak in agreement with the truth, and yield our life to Him believing. Trust in Jesus. Love Him. Receive.
