If we are hungry and thirsty for all God has for us through our Lord Jesus Christ, devotion is not a duty. However, there are times that distractions weigh us down. If we stay on course with a daily devotion to God, we are able to keep ourselves in the basics and keep ourselves built up and encouraged in the Lord in the midst of those times. By consistent devotion to Him, we are in control from our spirit man, and we can keep our mind, emotions and body under His control. By consistent devotion to Him, there is long-term fruit, fruit that remains. John 15:1-16
God has provided for us to have fellowship with Him “on the fly.” We might be very busy and burdened with “stuff.” But by the Spirit, by prayer and worship with the Spirit, we can keep our focus on Him in the midst of busyness, challenges and chaos. Paul and Silas did it. Acts 16:23-34
What We Need to Understand Each Day
We are IN CHRIST by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Galatians 3:26-29
We have the eternal blood covenant as our eternal right standing with God. All sin was removed at the cross. We are positionally free from sin. We believe that good news and identify with it. Hebrews 9:12,14,22-28
We have Jesus Himself interceding for us. Hebrews 7:25
We have ongoing cleansing and renewal from all unrighteousness as we confess our sins, faults, and failures, trusting in Him. 1 John 1:7-9
We have His righteousness put to our account before God and before all spiritual forces. We overcome the accuser by the blood of the Lamb, by the word of our testimony, and by refusing to hold to the natural life. The natural life is what we see, feel, think, and experience. We hold only to the promises of the Word and Spirit of God. We align our lives only to the Word and Spirit of God. Romans 4:20-25; Revelation 12:10-11
We have His anointing and power. Acts 1:8; 1 John 2:26-27
We have His faith, the faith of the Son of God. Galatians 2:20 KJV
We have His mind and humility. 1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:3-11
We have the ability to hear His voice. John 10:27
We are complete in Christ, lacking nothing. Colossians 2:10
This is our position. As we walk with Him in faith, we experience more and more of what we have in Him. The Biblical basics are this: born again, baptized in the Spirit, and being led by the Holy Spirit. The experience of all this comes by faith, surrender, and obedience—by hearing and believing the Word of promise, by asking in faith, and by surrendering to Him to act in faith. This is how we experience what we already have in Christ—the just shall live and speak by faith. Romans 1:16; 2 Corinthians 4:13
With this understanding, we can walk in His presence each day wherever we go and in whatever we are engaged.
What We Need to Do Each Day—James 4:6-11; 1 Peter 5:5-10
SUBMIT TO GOD.
. “Hallowed be thy name.” Worship and acknowledge Him and declare His greatness with praise and thanksgiving—This is to be first. Matthew 6:9-15
. Do communion daily if we so desire. Communion is all about remembering what He has already accomplished for us. It is about keeping His finished work foremost in our minds, and appropriating it by faith.
RESIST THE DEVIL.
Put any known sin or unforgiveness under the blood.
Bind up, renounce, and cast out spirits and any evil way or influence.
Pull down imaginations/reasonings that don’t align with the Word of truth.
2 Corinthians 4:1-6; 10:3-6
DRAW NEAR TO GOD. TAKE YOUR CLEANSING. GIVE PRAISE/ WORSHIP
Ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke 11:13; Ephesians 5:15-21
Ask for guidance in His Word, will and way for the day.
Ask for needed provisions for that day. Matthew 6:11
FOLLOW THE PROMPTS OF THE SPIRIT.
Take the humility of Christ. Clear all accounts with all brethren. Obedience is better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:22; Proverbs 3:5-6
Notes:
. For initial infilling of the Holy Spirit:
. Hunger and thirst for Him and all He has for you. Luke 3:16
. Hear this Word of Promise in the Lord Jesus Christ (anointed one)
. Ask in faith. Receive by faith when you ask. Mark 11:24
. Act in faith. Raise your head and your hands to God and give breath
to speak out, trusting God to give utterance. The whole point of the
baptism of the Spirit is to empower God’s people to speak out by the
Spirit to be a BOLD witness of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:13
. For ongoing infilling of the Holy Spirit:
Maintain a lifestyle of “Speaking…” Ephesians 5:15-21 (my summary):
“Pay attention to walk smartly, using good judgement and wisdom in all things. Give yourself to know the will of God above all. Be being filled with the Spirit by speaking to yourselves and speaking out praises and thanksgiving to God in the midst of all things. Be carrying an attitude of submission to God and to each other in reverence to God. Be giving place to the Holy Spirit so as not to grieve Him. Let your lifestyle be with the constant awareness of your position in the Lord Jesus Christ. Be constantly aware that you are carrying His name in the earth.”
“The culture of heaven is expressed on earth through us.”
