Two Miracles

Sometimes we need to just open our mouth and give God praise out loud so everybody can hear, God is good! There are two “miracles” we experienced for which I want to give God praise. One was the missing purse. Barb ran into a Wal-Mart for one item. I pulled up to the front to wait in the car for her, near the front door. She came out, got in the car, and realized she left her purse in the cart just inside the front door, about fifteen or twenty steps from the car. She immediately got out of the car and went back to the cart that was no longer there. She stepped back into the store and looked around. As she stood looking around in the front of Wal-Mart, all of this taking place within about one minute, a man asked her if she was doing okay. She told him what happened, and he suggested she check with the Customer Service desk. She went to the desk, and they produced her purse for her. It still had everything in it including her billfold. Later that day, with me driving, we approached a “Y” intersection. I did not see the vehicle coming our way. Just as I started into the lane of on-coming traffic, I suddenly turned to see the on-coming vehicle which was travelling about forty or forty-five miles per hour. I hit the brakes just in time, avoiding the collision. It would have hit my wife’s side. I am so thankful. I give God all the praise for preserving us. It would have been really bad. How many times do things happen to all of us along life’s journey, in which God keeps us and protects us? I am persuaded it is more than we will ever know. We live in a world that has people who make choices, and it has a devil who is out to steal, kill and destroy. If people line up to darkness, then devilish things happen. If people line up to the light, then godly things happen. Life happens! As I related in the two “miracles,” when we see God’s hand of help and goodness and deliverance to keep us from the bad things, we are to give Him unashamed, unapologetic praise. Even in the midst of bad things, it is good to give God praise for taking care of us while we are coming out of the situation. When Saul was trying to kill David, he said, “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth…I sought the Lord and he heard me, and delivered my from all my fears” (Psalms 34). For what Jesus has done for us, God is worthy to be praised at all times. Our focus can be on the goodness, faithfulness, strength and guidance of the Lord in the midst of the good or the bad. Jesus is the all-sufficient Savior for all who really trust in Him.
