Our five-day vacation at Orange Beach, Alabama was a great success. It is great to relax in the crashing waves of the Gulf of America! With a brain for biology, I always enjoy whatever wildlife is on the beach, and that which washes up on the beach, or which makes itself known in the ocean itself. One of the highlights was seeing the schools of dolphins swimming along the beach gracefully breaking water, and some even coming up out of the water. The dive-bomber birds are fun to watch as they successfully find their snack, plucking some poor fish out of the water. The thousands of Striped Mullett fish jumping up, and swimming all around you are fascinating. The pelicans are a unique bird to watch as they go about their day. And then, we come to the crabs. One morning a young man had caught about a four-inch-wide crab, holding him on the back side, showing his little kids the interesting creature. Crabs are quick, but they can be caught, even without a net. So, at a later time, I manage to splash one out of the ocean that had washed up near the shore. By splashing him up on the sand, I could have a better chance at catching him. Well, I worked with him, maneuvering him in such a way that I was able to grab him on the back side. Good! Caught him! But Bad! This particular crab had a claw that I thought was maybe injured, but just there. No! This deformed claw that went backwards on his body was fully useable! And powerful! Unlike the normal crab that I had witnessed being safely held on its backside, this crab located the first finger he came to that was holding the backside of his body! Yeooww! That thing clamped down on my finger triggering an automatic response of shaking him off into the ocean. Blood oozed. I had to wrap that finger up after applying the triple antibiotic. If I had only had a crab net! Now, get this. As we packed up to leave the unit we were staying in, my eyes fell on a crab net and cage in the closet. All the supplies we needed were there all the time! Now, I am sporting an “owwey” because I did not know what we had. How true this is in the kingdom of God. Most of us don’t know what we already have provided for us in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have forgiveness of sin, fullness of the Holy Spirit with supernatural gifts and power. We have mental, emotional and physical healing. We have deliverance from demonic bondage and influences. We have the promise of a prosperous and long, healthy life. Jesus wants us to believe on Him for life and life more abundant. As we believe His Word, we can see what we have, and we can spare the “crab pinches of life” and overcome in every way.
